If your family earned a combined income of $300k/year, what price range for a home would you be looking for, personally?

1-2 mil in a normal area
Completely depends on the area. If I needed to live near the big city for my job, then a typical home might be 500-600k for 4 bedrooms. If I wanted to live out in the sticks I could probably get a nice house with lots of land for even cheaper. I wouldn't buy a more expensive house even if I could afford it, property taxes would eat my ass and I don't like having a ton of extra space that I wouldn't do anything with.
4-4.5x household income if you don't want to live in poverty
1.5 mil

$300 at most, of course this largely depends on where you're trying to buy.
The #1 mistake people make with their money is letting their cost of living scale with their income.
Keep your costs down even as your income comes up and you'll be out of the game sooner.
