This ain't the mix ratio with the physical dollar & digital dollar real banks use (money run to banks would kill banks). Every digital coin on the exchange was deposited by the users, unless exchange was secretly hacked (downfall of cryptsy exchange), they'll have the coins. Either all in a hot wallet or mixed with cold storage. exchanges (reputable ones) don't create coins out of thin air or use the users coins for themselves in trades (mintpal speculations from years ago).

BTC should rise as exchanges "cover" withdrawals. For example, even though all users might hold 1 Million BTC on an exchange, the exchange will physically hold less. Since it is essentially a market maker.
