Who else here just wants to have enough money to be able to live frugally of dividends and interests?

I hate my fucking job and just want to quit man. My boss is giving me a ton of work with no training. I have no idea how to do this. Worst of all is that most of the other jobs in the company rely on this work. However I constantly fuck up which results in my boss yelling at me. He tells me I'm costing the company so much money because of my fuckups and we might have to scratch the entire project because of me. I can't fucking do this anymore.

If that were true you'd be long gone
>>
>>2866572
I do. It's literally all I want.

But in my case I actually am going to be fired soon and I'm terrified.

But anyway I see it like this anon. If I put away $100,000-$150,000 now in my 20s into something low risk like index funds, I should basically be able to retire on that money when I'm 65. So it's like buying my retirement now so the last part of my life will be squared away and I won't have to worry about saving for it.

Then I can quit my white collar job and simply live paycheck to paycheck making money for things I want now and not worrying about saving it. So any bit that I do save will simply reduce the time I between now and when I retire. If I keep on saving and saving that time could by in my 30s. But the point is I can do whatever the fuck I want, get a nice easy job and not worry about saving. Like fast food in a foreign country or something really easy and stress-free that I can do with my hands, something nice and blue collar. Or I can focus on passions and jump from job to job not worrying about saving anything.

That's what I want. So I will buy my max age 65 retirement first and then just use any leftover money to make it even younger and younger.

that sounds like complete shit, anon, i'm sorry. i have peaced out of jobs before for much less egregious shit

i just want to wake up and do what i want and not go to a stressful job. that's pretty much it. roof over my head maybe a car, insurance, food. be able to travel.

it will still take millions though to have that lifestyle for life. but yeah ideally i can just buy 10k-20k in bitcoin now and put it in a trezor for 3 years and be free of this bullshit grind.

Got money in monthly dividend stocks but will need $150k to make enough to pay my bills.

Have you looked into Control Finance? Seems like a huge scam but I can live off $4500 a month and I have $10k to invest right now sooooooooo....

100% in the same boat anon.

I'm a licensed insurance "agent" but what it means is that I'm actually just a piece of sales livestock that sits at a desk and is under constant pressure to write business out of thin air even though in a mandatory insurance market the only thing that sells is price.

It's absolutely miserable but I don't have any other credentials and I can't afford a cut in pay because every dollar my salary goes down is no different than a dollar taken out of investments.

If I was making 5% returns (which is conservative), I'd be taking about $1200/month on $300k principal. $1200/month is about what I need to live, though it could be reduced a little. The problem with that is I only have about $20k principal.

I'm considering lying on my resume to get into some other job that will make me minimum $35k/year so I can get away from insurance but keep putting money into savings / investments.
>>
>>2866619

Ive known OPs feel since my first job right out of college. That was ten years ago. I now have $200k saved up and am done saving for retirement. Im gonna keep pushing until $600k then become a neet. Not having to work is the ultimate luxury.
>>
>>2867420
300k is my goal too. As soon as I have that amount in investments I will retire. Problem is that I don't even have a house yet so I will need to pay my mortgage with that 5% which makes things a little bit harder but not impossible
>>
>>2867475
At what age do you plan on having 600k and thus retiring?
>>
>>2867420
>lying on my resume

Lying is pretty hard. I'm pretending I didn't get fired from my last job and it's hard as hell. I think I got turned down from a job because I said I could start anytime, and they asked didn't I need to give two weeks' notice. I said it's a restaurant industry job and notice isn't a thing but I don't think he believed me. Which is retarded because it's actually true.

I definitely fluff my resume. For example, 3 months experience in something = 1 year xp. Or that school organized volunteer thing is an "internship". Helps massively. So lie cautiously.

Also I know your feel. I could make it work on 150k. Just need to get it first, and I'd be set for life. But nooooo.
>>
If I can have $1M by the time I'm 40 then I can just live off the dividends.
>>
FI general? fuck yeah

21 here, just opened my Roth IRA and planning to max it out in either VTSMX or VFIFX (2050 retirement fund)

Avoiding most of the traps (won't have much college debt, no leasing a 80k BMW shitbox, living with parents and saving for a little after college)

Hopefully I'll be out of the rat race by 40
>>
>>2867994

I've lied about two jobs I was fired from and never had a problem. I just list my start and end dates on my resume to the month. I'll twist the dates a little if needed to get things to match up end to end so it look like there is no gap.

The reason you probably didn't get that job is that they thought you were a flighty asshole who would quit without notice from that job too. Always say you need two weeks minimum, even if you don't. Prospective employers are looking for stability and you have to make them believe you're it.

I usually go 30 days. If they act like they need me to start sooner I make a big deal about having to make sure I can get a replacement properly cross trained before I leave because, nobody else at the company knows how to handle my duties, etc whatever. Then I say I can probably get that date moved forward but I need to discuss it with management before calling them back and agreeing to whatever start date they requested.

It's just status management. Make yourself seem like a valuable resource and they'll want you more.

I've never been denied a job that I got an interview for with one exception, and that person that got it just had legitimately way better experience than me.
>>
>>2866572
soon you'll be microchipped as well
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40710051
when theres a decent supply of wageslaves with chips in them you'll have to play ball or be replaced by a robot or a chipped human for the sake of 'efficiency'. People will be hired over others if their resume says they're chipped. With an inventive like that and no jobs in sight, people will do this willingly to gain a competitive advantage. dark future ahead.
>>
>>2866762
Do you really believe that you'll be making 50%+ returns annually?
>>
>>2868269
Oh wait. I misread that picture. It's 500%. I think you have to be legitimately retarded to fall for this.
>>
>>2868077
>I've never been denied a job that I got an interview for

That's incredible. I've had about 15-20 interviews and lost all of them. I've improved my handshake, eye contact, confidence, appearance, resume, cover letters. I research the companies and everything. I drop spaghetti from time to time and legitimately just don't have a lot of experience.

So if it's been about 2 months since I got fired, should I say I no longer work there, or say I still work there? It was a low-pay low-skill evening job.

And I see your point. I saw the guy get upset when I said I didn't need two weeks, just that I needed to finish my week's schedule, he got upset, but by then it was too late. I'm bad at anticipating things like this. Maybe I have the 'tism. I'll also on occasion trip over myself when I speak, or phrase things awkwardly, because I get nervous. I've gotten a lot better but it's still enough to screw me I guess. I bombed a phone interview today I think...

Is there a way an assburger can learn to be charismatic? I read books on social engineering and it helps a little but not enough. I'm really jealous of you.
>>

have you tried reading about the companies you get interviews for so you can relate your interests/little experience to what the company does?

I only had 1 interview out of college and got the job. Also lying seems like a total shitbag move, I'd investigate every applicant before offering a position, and the company i worked for did. I wouldnt have typed this far if I had really thought about how much of an asshole you are but whatever.

Lie, lie, lie.

Lie your way into a better job. Work is a scam, capitalism is an even bigger scam. Don't be a sucker. Honest people fucking LOSE in this system.

I was making poverty wages, and after a total nervous breakdown I decided I was done living without health insurance. I totally fabricated a resume, beginning with a degree I don't have, and bullshitted my way into a $65k/yr tech job.

The first few months were hell-- I had to eat adderall like skittles to be able to figure out how to do all the shit I'd said I knew how to do... but I made it. Been working here a year now, no plans to quit. Looking forward to my annual raise.

Lie, or die poor.
>>
>>2868385
Automation isn't a meme but people have retarded ideas about it. Its typical for automation to make whatever cheaper, this making it accessible to a bunch more people, making demand skyrocket, making the original job or some allied profession even more in demand than before.
>>
>>2870394
Try doing that anyplace with a background check. I work for a defense contractor and doubt that would even make it into a hiring managers hand much less the door.
>>
>>2866572

Quit.

I quit lots of jobs.

I currently have a very good job where I make $65k a year.

If I wanted to suffer and cry about it I'd still be working in one of those shit offices.

Don't be scared.
>>
>>2870416
I don't work for a fucking defense contractor, retard, and I'm wasn't posting advice for middle-class wagecucks like you. I was talking about OP and other desperate people stuck in low-end jobs, eating shit.

The tech industry is built on hype and bullshit, almost no-one does background checks and all the people with actual skills are too autistic to make eye contact.

If OP has the balls, and can fake the confidence, he can do what I did.
>>
>>2870449
Probably could I guess, but I did the boring STEM thing and haven't worried since about my second paycheck. $60k+ might not be rich but outside of NYC or LA it sure as shit ain't starving and is more than enough to build the financial independence. Currently on track for a mil sometime in my forties if all I do is coast.

Just pick something you can guess won't check I suppose and apply there? So no defense contractors, or anywhere that is big or reputable I guess, or do research or network. Frankly I'm big into low stress, in OPs situation I would probably flat out quit, go mow lawns or write some apps or something, I already got a couple less memey business ideas and would probably roll a job loss into that since I got a fat cushion and could go jobless like a year easy. But I have such low standards I could live happily in a van down by the river.
>>
I make 90k a year and my stomach is in knots every fucking day I have to go to work. Entrepreneurship podcasts while I drive in keep me sane. Always thought this kind of money would be "enough"... total meme, We never get our wage cuck ours back.
>>
>>2868343
Wow that's fuckin deep. You're completely right. I think I'm in your category. My parents started me a Roth IRA when I turned 16 and forced me to put my earnings into it. They also started an investment account for me when I was born. Funded it with 20k and it is now over 100k. Blessed financially by many standards but am severely lacking in the love department.

No. A man wants to dominate only to have control which increases his chances of survival. If survival was guaranteed for everyone there would be no need to dominate, no need to control others, no need to look for power over others

It's the non guarantee of survival that fucks everything up and leads to all suffering

Your assumption is the world becomes too crowded. That's only if people are stupid. Now are people fundamentally stupid or is it their education that makes them stupid, slaves inside a box they forget to think out of?

Socialism is the rule of the weak, but why would the weak need to rule if their survival is guaranteed? They won't have to get together and fight against the strong anymore, they won't need to dominate either

And whence evil, if not from the suffering caused by others? Is a killer born a killer or does he become one?

They would call them and ask at least, I'd think. Remotely possible if you had someone to collaborate with I think, but I feel like that is like 5x more dangerous than normal. Probably best to stick to an industry that doesn't check, or better yet go for STEM or accounting or nursing and fuck the games.

For me, it went through a pre-employment investigation subcontractor and not HR directly.
