Depends on if you can get under $0.10/kw power. Your better putting your money directly into the coin than mining if this is not the case.

Park it in monero for the time being.
Research coins that align with what you would actually use and invest in those. And I mean ACTUALLY use. Not speculate that somebody else might use it.
If anybody tells you on biz what the "next big thing" is they probably just want you to buy their bags.

I was thinking about putting it in Monero (for the reasons you highlighted - it's something I'd use). Quite astounding to see some of the utter shit these people are peddling sometimes.
