Okay so from my understanding, on August 1st, segwit 2x will be implemented. Do I still need to enable bip 148 or whatever on my wallets? I don't want to lose my BTC because I'm too retarded to figure this out.

Also, what does this mean for the future of BTC? Will it remain king?

And yes, Segwit means the lightning network will be activated enabling instant low/no fee payments.

Rootstock will also be implemented enabling Ethereum-like functionality.
