Any FAQs or guides for newbies on crypto-currencies? I want to be well aware of how it works before I start.

Lurk a lot on reddit and learn about blockchain technology. This will be a MASSIVE advantage to avoid mistakes during transactions, storing coins and also helps to see which coins are legit and which ones are scams.
Maybe start with the BTC whitepaper and then google until you understand it.
That's how you are successful here and can bullshit others into buying shitty coins for your benefit

Can I just send you $5kUSD and have you make monies for me?

Don't buy the coins being hyped here because half of them are scamcoins being shilled by bagholders. Don't buy a single thing without at least looking at a graph first ffs.

Good response. Id also add listen to and read stuff by Andreas Antonipoulos. There are very few people on this Earth that have the knowledge he does about crypto. Hes a bitcoin maximalist, but he makes a living explaining very technical concepts to non technical people.

Yeah of course but you would need to convert it to monero first before sending if that's okay!?
Honestly, a lazy and actually quite successful + safe strategy would be to put 95% of your investment in the 3 big ones (BTC, ETH, LTC) with the most into BTC and the least into LTC. Put them into cold storage and don't touch them until you want to cash out and leave. During that time gamble with shitcoins with your other 5%
