China, particularly in May when their credit rating was reduced, they're using it mainly as a safe haven, bu there's also some mining stuff going on there. Japs and Koreans also seem to be buying in a lot too. Western markets have joined in the for the ride (nobody in the West actually cares about the tech, which is a huge problem in terms sustainability of these current prices, LTC was the last sensibly priced coin but that seems set to change).

I'll add that in the west, banks and other organisations might use things which resemble blockchains, but I don't see why they'd use the coins traded currently, far too volatile to hold, therefore, of no practical use. Better for them to adopt the tech behind things ethereum, and make their own.
