please listen. segwit is a lie.
it will not significantly increase the speed of btc by itself. it just allows off chain solutions, such as the lightning network, which core is heavily invested in. however, these off chain solution will NOT come any time soon. once people realize this shit is going to hit the fan.
furthermore, lightning network isn't seamless. both you and the person you're trading with need to join for the transactions to be fast.
the reason core doesn't want 2mb hard fork is it does literally nothing but delay the problem 6 months. eventually no matter the block size it's going to take a few days to do on chain transactions.
the reality is proof of stake is replacing proof of work and unless bitcoin adapts it's dead. ltc is adapting. eth is adapting. btc is not and will literally die like myspace did.
