Any Germans in here? I'm looking to import (and sell) some arts and crafts from outside the EU, and I'm trying to figure out how to go about it. Reading some zollamt webpages, it seems I have to ger an "importer's registration number", and then use that to deal with customs. Where are my cardboard boxes going to end up, physically? Or is it like ordering Bad Dragon dildos, where they just come and I have to pay the tax after the fact?
Or maybe I can just bring them in with me in checked baggage and go to the "I have shit to declare" area of the airport when landing back in Germany? I've never been in that area. Anyone know what to expect?

Well as a fellow german I give you this advice: Dont import yourself. If you export for example from china to germany let the company that produceses your product handle everything.
On the other hand if you produce something yourself do it with aircargo. Its fast and less complicated then shipping.

I'm buying directly from craftsmen, so I have to deal with the customs myself.

I forgott to tell you that there are often special (cheaper) taxrates when you have a self-owned businesses, but the paperwork is horrible. Like really bad. Thats why i advice you to let it handle by someone else.

Who would that someone else be? Should I just google "importberater"?
