Biz taught me that stock picking/ managed funds are worse than literally just buying into an index fund, in the long-run. That's so counter-intuitive, and I didn't want to accept it at first. But then I looked into expense ratios and how difficult it was to actually "predict" the market. Unless you're going to trade on margin, or a just looking for short term gains, don't bother trying to beat the market year-on-year.

You do learn very important stuff here.
