SIA is super cheap right now, buy buy buy. easy gains.

Shit blockchain can't handle traffic, can't fix because miners won't upgrade. Can't withdraw from Polo and other exchanges.
>>
>>2302822

The hype behind this coin even outside of the /biz/ space is quite large. It's most prevalent direct competitor; Storj, is focused largely on the consumer side, whereas this is focused on enterprise applications (much more profitable for a focus on storage solutions)

The dev team is good, currently the coin is INCREDIBLY undervalued, and they're already starting to gain some real world prospects.

>minebox unveil
>lots of 'public' (within the cryptospace) attention

RUMORS:
>meme tweet about SAP+SIA;

SAP is fucking HUGE in enterprise storage. As in, THE storage solution. If this even turned out to have 1% legitimacy behind it, SIA would hit $10/coin almost overnight, no doubt about that in my mind.
>meme screencap of SIA + HP partnership

big name decentralized storage? Another +$X.00 gain for the coin.

From a personal perspective, I work as an account exec. for one of the largest tech providers in the US. I deal with customers on a daily basis that would love a solution for storage such as this, so I can see the usability of the platform.

Dude. I don't know about you but within a month or so, sia went from a marketcap of 30 million to over 400 million.
>>
>>2306378

Ok so next month each sia coin is $100 each?

Motherfucker do you even?
>>
>>2306347
Depends. Realistically, we have mooned beyond the worth of sia at its current stage. However, part of the reason why sia is valued so highly is because of its emphasis on creating a good product and not market. Sia wants to be a decentralized storage that can eat a bit of Amazon S3. The total market value of Amazon's storage is over a hundred billion. If sia is able to just eat a bit at that market, it will be worth a lot, without having to compete against bitcoin or any other fiat coin like monero or whatever.

Sia does have the potential of becoming insanely huge.
The roadmap for the next two years shows what it plans to accomplish, so within that time, it would be a good coin to hold.

https://trello.com/b/Io1dDyuI/sia-public-roadmap

Also, it's one of the rare coin where the devs cannot just simply cash out and run away like storj for example. Because of this, people have been saying that ''sia is one of the safest bet to invest'' and it's the reason I invested a year ago.

>>2306429
lol
No. I don't expect it to rise beyond 2 cent for the next four months. Use your fucking head. 1$ per sia would be a marketcap of 40 billion. It's called memeing you fucking pleb shit.

I think the main selling point is the fact that Sia can offer enterprises storage that will NEVER go down short of a global crisis. The network would be so redundant that it can top any server for a fraction of the price. Not even Amazon can top that.

Nature (i.e. the traders on exchanges) is trying to moon SIA. To me it seems that the whales in SIA have so much faith in SIA, they have so much invested in it, that they manipulate the price to stay below 700 satoshi for now. They don't want it to rise rapidly and then drop hard. The whales will do all they can to keep the price growing slowly and naturally to ensure stability in their investment. The volume has grown rapidly in recent days and the whales want to keep collecting bagholders. These hype threads are not necessary. Even whales don't actually think that SIA will be $1 in 7 days. Maybe, MAYBE, 10 cents in 5 weeks or something. Who really knows. Any thoughts on this hypothesis?
>>
With a cap so high this is definitely a day trade coin

Best case it's only a 5x (2.5B)
>>
>>2311962
It's based on half empty conjecture.
We rose to 700 due to a pump and it's not that we're unable to pass that point but that we're still finding our floor at the 580-650 sat mark. And with btc rising, it lowered the floor, but the USD price is still the same.
There's no bullshit 'whales want to keep bagholders' because the whales themselves have faith in sia.
What caused the rise in the first place were old ripple whales that sold when it reached a billion. They wanted something else to invest and considered sia the next ripple.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Ripple/comments/6bsee2/ive_found_the_next_ripple/?st=j3lrkhoj&sh=ff023a95

Sia then became big, etc etc
Regardless, just because hype threads aren't necessary, it is good to have these sort of threads being visible to newcomers about sia.

Help me out here.
I don't completely understand the tech behind Sia.
You can rent out space (like airbnb) and get paid via Sia?
Something along those lines

Here's the thing tho, wont this only cater for a small amount of people who have internet fast enough to be able to handle such latency?
You'll most likely have to have a dedicated line just for the task for renting space?

I must be understanding this wrong.
All i hear is people saying how amazing it is, but no one knows why.
>>
>>2312626
Nope, the idea behind it similar to p2p, in that files are cut up into pieces and stored on multiple computers with failure redundancy, so one will be able to download a file very quickly by querying the numerous sources.
Ofcourse, this isnt implemented yet but its on the chalkboard.

The tech behind sia is rather complex but also simple.

The coin makes storage become a contract that incentives people to keep the storage for the allocated time or lose money. What makes sia great is that it separates your data into chunks, and so long as ~ 10 host keep your data, you'll never lose anything. Meaning no one can ever hack your data as no one holds any actual information. Compare that to dropbox or Amazon that actively spy on their users or can be hacked. No one would be able to do that with sia.

Plus by being a free market, allowing anyone with a shitty storage in their garage to allocate their storage, but protected by the sia network encryption, it makes the actual price for getting storage much cheaper than anyone else on the market by a lot. One of the main problems in the storage world is that you need a reputation, because no one would give out sensitive data to anyone, so you need to have a very well known brand. But with sia, anyone can join in and no one is at risk.
You can rent out your storage and make money in the process. And the network calculates the uptime and bandwith you have to calculate its cost from a host perspective.

The great thing also is that the devs themselves cannot bail out like the storj team. The sia dev only has a secondary worthless coin called siafunds which only allows them to collect ~ 3% of all contracts on the network. Meaning for them to make money, they need to become the Facebook of Storage or die. Compare that with Storj, the other storage coin that have decided to become centralized ''because it's easier'' that are holding 90% of the coin and can sell at any time.

The potential for the coin is great, and the dev team in charge are razor focused on only creating that vision. And with Amazon storage being worth hundreds of billions, and Dropbox equally being worth a couple of billions, you can see how sia could grow to be worth a lot.

I see a bright future for the coin.

Alright. I think I understand.
The tech behind it does seem quite extraordinary.
I mean, Amazon and Dropbox rent out storage themselves via servers they have set up.
That's WAY simpler than sending content all across the world.
Will definitely buy into it tho. It'll be crazy if they pull it off.

The bravado of the main devs is astounding. They want to fight a multi billion industry. And, in their words, they want to become 'The Facebook of Storage'.
It's this sheer stack of balls that made me invest in them.

sounds like hubris more like it
getting out of SC snd into ARK and RUBY
>>
What I don't get is the pricing... As the coin goes up won't storage prices for customers go up?
>>
>>2312683

so what's your outlook on where it can be in 6 months to a year?

my majorly optimistic bet is $0.15 to $0.2/coin, but I think $0.05/coin is probably more realistic

Trying to secure fixed rates will be a bitch.
>>

I honestly can't guess.
My prediction a year ago was that sia would reach a marketcap of 100-200 million within two or three years.
And we're kinda past that point, accomplished within a single year since that prediction.

fair enough. i agree with you that it has huge potential (obviously). here's hoping we're both right.

Based on that assumption wouldn't it be possible there are major bagholders trash talking their own coin to ensure balanced growth/exposure

$2 a month is Lambo like money for some countries. Think about all of the poor in Africa, China, India, etc. That would eat a human dick for dinner because they are so poor. Actually has real world application my anon-nig.

I bought 160 CAD worth of BTC on a whim from a bitcoin vending machine, and dropped about 110 of that into a few random alt coins that were being memed on this site. SC got about $20 of that at 600 sats. Is this a coin that is going to matter a year from now or is it a short term thing.
>>
>>2316211

It 10x the market cap in about a month, this can go to $1 billion easy
