Hi /biz/, new guy here. I've been doing a lot of thinking about starting up a small local company in the town I'm in, but I'm looking for some advice and the sticky offers very little. I'm not even sure if I'm on the proper board.
But, long story short, I'm looking to start up a small local courier that will service my town and some of the local grouping of communities. I've done quite a bit of research, and it all seems very plausible to do and make a profit. But how exactly can someone begin such a service solo? This would be my first startup in a small business. If anyone feels like lending me a helping hand with advice or answer some of my asinine questions, feel free to do so. I will post more information as I think about it some more.

I was thinking start small, of course. Very small. I only have myself and a compact sedan. Maybe offer flat rates in town (10 bucks? 15?) and increase the rate depending on pickup and delivery priority, location of pickup/delivery, the makeup of the package itself, and milage.
