If you cash out regularly and heavily, keeping stuff on the exchange probably isn't too bad. If you plan on hodling anything for a year or more, though, definitely go for a personal wallet.

If I would store my coins, do you have any recommendations for multicoin wallets? I'm not sure I trust all those android apps, I'd rather have them on a secure computer disconnected from the internet.

I have been thinking about safe long-term storage as well lately. What do you think about this using a dedicated notebook?

1. get a cheap used thinkpad für $150
2. install linux, even though i dont know anything about it
3. download and sync core wallets
4. transfer coins to the wallets
5. store somewhere safe and only use it for buying lambos
6. store wallet backups on 2 or more usb-sticks

would this be safe or are there any manuals on how to set up an air-gapped wallet?

seems good. backups are definitely a good idea, I imagine that in the event of a break-in the they're looking for your laptop, not the little wallet that's on it. would be a shame to lose your money to a guy that has no idea what he's stealing.
