Bought at 409 thinking it was the dip also. Not really bothered though, this is a buy and HODL moon mission, not a get rich quick scheme. Will keep accumulating in the mean time.

>>
How is this not another p&d shitcoin?
>>
>>2211195
cause it has usage? that works? aka storage.
>>
The reason it is going down is because of poloniex screwing up the siacoin wallet so you can't withdraw or deposit, so the Siacoin devs are working with poloniex to fix the issue and after it is fixed it should go up in value.
>>
>>2211204
How can I store my shit on their platform? I'd love to back up my music library.

>>2211264

Buy tokens, put tokens in wallet, buy hosting space with tokens, drag and drop files in. A plus is that they are like at least 5x cheaper than other cloud storage.

Lots of cloud storage websites offer free storage in the gigabytes. Why should I use the Sia network? What is the market?
>>
>>2212154
>free gigabytes
lol
And who do you think buys Terabytes?
>>
>>2212170
a small number of people/businesses
>>
>>2212186

>>
>>2211277
Fuck spending your SC on storage rn, that $2 is worth $2k
>>
>>2212201
a cloud storage company from a reputable business instead of from a convoluted platform from the world of crypto where they hear often hear about crashes/scams/hackers OR no cloud storage at all but a backup harddrive
>>
>>2212226
Sounds like you know a lot of nothing about businesses.
>>
>>2212243
and what makes you say that? why does every conversation on here devolve into petty name calling? state your case anon i'm listening
>>
>>2212259
What makes you think that no one would buy storage from a company that offers greater security at a lower cost?
>>
Newfag here. What are "sats"?
>>
>>2212274
Lowest value of Bitcoin.
>>
Got in before the BTC crash at 360 sats and regretted it the moment I clicked the confirm button, but it's okay, because I already deluded myself into thinking this is a mid/long term hold! I only have 80k anyway
>>
>>2211594
Not that hard to believe.

It literally just about touched that just a few days ago.
>>
>>2212298
There's nothing to be announced within the next month other than what's on the roadmap and minebox.
>>
>>2212267
people would buy if they believed it were true. but it being true does not mean people would believe it.

what's stopping google from setting up their own nodes to monopolize the market and squeezing out all the other nodes?
>>
>>2212347
They would have to work within the sia network which would only legitimize the system and make other people join. Even if they set up their own nodes, it wouldn't stop others from joining and putting their own host at a lower cost.
Sia can't be bought, it only eats everything else if it wants to join. The free market on sia makes anyone with a storage compete with Amazon and Google.
>>
>>2212335
You do realize that you can't deposit or withdraw SC on polo which has by far the most SC volume right? People are selling their SC just to get rid of it atm because they currently can't even take it out of the exchange if they wanted to.
>>
>>2212387
That'll be fixed within two days. It's a wallet problem on polo and the devs are working on it.
That's not 'announcement' level worthy that will moon sia to 1000 nor something that will be fixed within a month.
>>
>>2212367
will it be able to be used as streaming? i saw a dev post on reddit about having to figure out how to price bandwidth and his idea was to introduce another token which is just plain retarded.
>>
>>2212420
>Yes, that's likely to be the biggest hurdle for an image or video site. The clients need some way to pay for the bandwidth. The website (the one issuing links to the content) could probably provide download coupons that the client could use to pay the host (and therefore doesn't need Sia, just needs something in javascript that can make RPCs).
>>
>>2212419
It was over 500 sat before that.
>>
>>2212420
If used as storage for say Netflix or Youtube? Sure.>>2212433 That's just to say the ownership would be on the site itself to set up the price for the bandwidth payment. sia isn't at that stage yet.
>>2212448
That was during the bitcoin bubble.
I don't expect it to moon so soon.
>>
>>2212488
desu i bought some already and was playing devils advocate. i'm holding longterm
>>
>>2212516
It's cool. I bought a year ago and I'm also holding longterm.
It would be nice if sia became the Facebook of storage.
>>
>>2212488
>the bitcoin bubble
So you've been trading for two weeks?
>>
>>2212561
lol I'm talking about this bubble for the past few months. And this recent couple of weeks of greed of ''it'll reach 10k buy buy buy'' was just ridiculous''.

For one, I'm happy that I made 2x from a week ago or so, but on the other hand it shows how fucking broken bitcoin can be manipulated with margin trading.

sooooo sie is cloud storage tied up with crypto? maybe i've not udnerstood because that seems dumb af why buy sia tokens to buy storage when you can just use fiat for storage? if the process was simple maybe but nothing about crypto is user friendly
>>
>>2212983
Because the coin is used to create smart contracts within the network itself. It makes the network decentralized without having to rely on another source of token.
Fiat doesn't do that.
>>
>>2212983
If you want user friendly that doesn't work, go with storj ''we're centralized because it's easy''.

Is it profitable to host files on SIA ?

I have a few hundred gigabytes of space left on a server with a good bandwidth. Can I make some money out of it ?
>>
>>2215173
>I have a few hundred gigabytes of space left on a server with a good bandwidth. Can I make some money out of it ?
do it now before the price goes up
Personally I'm just afraid that people would store sketchy shit on my server and then I would get a knock at the door
>>
>>2215180
nah, you wouldn't get in trouble because it's all encrypted
>>
>>2215189
That wouldn't stop them from confiscating the computer to be used as evidence against whoever owned the files

>Its in the blockchain so they wont have to seize your shit, they can just download it. Getting the key for it is another story.
but isn't it stored on your computer?
That's the whole purpose of allowing people to host files on your computer
>>
>>2215237

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4YGpWxyn6Y
"Your encrypted files are spread across multiple nodes. No single host holds any significant piece. "
>>
>>2215269
well shit maybe I will sell some space
>>
>>2215237
encrypted means encrypted its not something u just open in 7zip and it works
you need quantum cumputers and shit to break at least
>>
>>2215260
You host it on your computer, anyone can download it with the address. Only the person(s) with the decryption key can decrypt it.
>>

>>
>>2215260

You need to go study up on blockchain technology. It's decentralized meaning multiple computers. The blockchain is a link of computers that connects the file together.

Think of it like a torrent file but with encryption attached.
