> How is it free?
"People" invest your settled funds when you're not using them, just like banks.

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, why?
Robinhood graphs are shit and only show you an average, not true real-time prices. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.

> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
Real brokers, like TDAmeritrade's thinkorswim. Otherwise you should be using tradingview.com, stockcharts.com, finviz.com, or a non-pile-of-shit for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

It means THAT hockey FANS will be exhibiting hockey CULTURE more. What does THAT mean?? It means that HCA (NASHVILLE based HEALTHCARE SERVICE is going to the MOON. they beat earnings up nearly 100% beginning of this month and so it's up over 40% since with only 3 red days, meanwhile it's only up 50ish% YTD. this baby is coming down very soon as people who were in pre-May are taking gainzzz, I suggest you do too. Get in RIGHT NOW
>>
>>2185169

It's a meme company like TSLA, once normies learn muh nuclear technology change the world save the niggers, it's going spaceship.

If you look at the chart it seems to have bottomed and is rising. 2 years ago it was over 10, now it's under 2. They've had some recent activity in presenting their tech development, which was literally called the GAIN workshop. Look at the 5 year, the 1 year. Shit is starting to go up.

Let's think long term. They're doing nuclear fuel. Oil ain't gonna last forever, and now that china is getting all personal automotives and western consumption level, we gotta switch off oil sooner or later. Nuclear is also better for space exploration than fermented dinosaur bones. Why wouldn't a nuclear company go up in the long run?
>>
>>2185348
why
>>
Lmaoing at the stupid niggers who are investing in China. The yellow Jew views American investments in their shithole of a country as a charity. People actually believe those chinks will actually honor the foreigners investments in Chinese stocks. FUCKING KEK

>>
I'm in on NAKD at 2.04....so it pretty means it's going to tank to like 1.50 today :D
>>
>>2185348

Fucking better moon. I bought too high on the dip. Also I'm waiting for a dip on JKHY, their competitor. Fucking shit just keeps going up. It should see a dip soon, especially if HMNY gains come at JKHY loss. Sell high on HMNY, buy low on JKHY. Vice versa all the way up. Well, ideally. HMNY is more volatile.

You're thinking of stocks as a linear trajectory when, in fact, stocks are extremely nonlinear and is fundamentally classified as a nonlinear stochastic process. In laymen terms, what I'm trying to say that it is highly probabilistic and there is no ''right'' way to invest in stocks. People have utilized your strategy and they've either lost or maintained more or less the same amount they started with.

The top gainers on finviz change everyday for the most part, so there wouldn't be much profit to be made. Whatever is a top gainer today could be a loss tomorrow and, depending on your position, it could be a gigantic loss. Stock trading is susceptible to the ''hot hand fallacy,'' which is pervasive in gambling (particularly poker). When a stock is doing particularly well, people immediately want to buy it up and start praying to non-existent Stock Gods to make it go up, up, up so they can sell off at a high.

Following the top gainers chart should be scholastic in nature. Technical analysis is, believe it or not, your best bet to comprehending stocks. That and understanding the market(s) that you're investing, having your eye on the news and reading a copious amount of information. Information should be your fucking drug of choice; it is what you absolutely, positively need to be even halfway decent at stock trading.

For the record, I have a BS/MS in Mathematics and I write software for a FinTech company. We sell our products to hedge funds and boutiques. I've picked up a few things.

in the very beginning of my trade career I was a real "investor"

was using Capital One Sharebuilder at the time and getting charged 7$ per trade, so I was just holding things long long term

Also I was basically only buying bluechip shits like google and netflix (those two were huge huge winners for me btw and the gains are probably what got me addicted enough to pursue this so much further)

RULES FOR PRESERVING YOUR CAPITAL
1. Dont try to catch falling knives
2. Dont chase 'meme rockets'
3. Dont add to your losing positions
4. Dont go balls deep into any one thing
5. Dont trade leveraged ETFs (like JNUG/JDST)
6. Dont enter trades blindly
7. Dont gamble on earnings reports.
8. Dont PANIC
9. Dont forget to put a stop loss (real or just mental) and commit to it
10. Dont listen to /biz/
>>
>>2188869
That's good, but the best way to understand the market is to actually get in there and work through it yourself.

You'll find nothing online (in a scholastic setting, anyway) about the volatility and sketchy illegal nature of biotech stocks, for example. You'll find no one talk about how people pump/dump stocks for immediate profit gains. You'll find absolutely zilch about chinese companies manipulating their own product, causing the stock to skyrocket and then dropping it to single digits within a matter of seconds just to fuck bulls over so their investors (who have shorted the stock) can make a killing.

These things, you learn in the market when you invest. You learn them when you actually invest money, lose money and gain money. Read up all of that info and soak it up, but stock trading is generally an insidious environment where intelligence, book smarts and common sense meet moral depravity and ever-so-slightly illegal tendencies.

If you have a chance, read The Big Short and Liar's Poker. That'll inform you of the type of people and the market you're truly dealing with.
>>

>>
>>2189006
These are fucking golden rules.
>>2188869
>>2188594

Spin is right on target here. The only thing I'll add is reiterate rule #1:
DON'T CHASE FALLING FUCKING KNIVES.

If the stock has taken off, fuck it and let it go. If you chase it, you will buy it high and it will fucking collapse. People continuously do this, though, and never learn. There was some poor guy on StockTwits who invested about 325k in biotech stocks and lost it all. Got burnt so fucking bad, he's bankrupt.

Just don't fucking chase falling knives.

Should I start doing this? I only just started working recently and have a couple of hundred dollars to spare. I watched some multi-million investor before say I should be getting stocks in things I know, but some other people said Bluechip or near that level are really good for flipping.

Any help for a beginner?
>>
>>2190532
>getting stocks in things you know
this is repeated really often, but you know much less than you think. at least try to be objective; mentally separate *liking a company and its products* from *knowing that its business will be successful and grow*.

what we do here is (generally) not really investing, but speculating. we look for stocks that are in a trough, that we expect to rebound within a few hours or days or weeks, or we watch the trading volumes of penny stocks to try to spot when hedge funds are about to pump them up 50% then dump them, riding the rockets and jumping off at the right time.

"Investing" is completely different; it means actually learning about a company and its business and market, and being of the assurance that your principal will be safe in it, over YEARS.

fuck if i know; my dad's a very successful CWA (chartered wealth advisor, so, *investing*, not trading) and wrinkles his nose at daytraders. I've just been fiddling around with RH for a couple months.

There are of course people who make a living daytrading, and perhaps even a ton of money, but statistically, most people who day-trade (i.e. try to "beat the market" by playing the peaks and valleys to get a better return than just buying an index fund) end up losing money.

I myself started off here at the end of march, made a nice profit my first day, then lost all that profit and multiples thereof the next day, and lost like 20% of my principal over the next couple weeks doing stupid emotional shit that >>2189006 specifically warns against. I'm only JUST NOW breaking even; I've internalized the hard lessons enough to consistently make profit.

Start with a couple hundred that you're prepared to completely lose. This is "mad money;" you're just playing here until you can consistently turn that little lump into more and more.

If you're really interested in investing, and not speculating, read "The Intelligent Investor," it's a fucking legendary book originally written in like the 40s that every successful investor (i.e. Buffett) swears by. It actually does have carryover to what we do here, though -- a HUGE amount of the book's subject matter is learning emotional disciple; knowing in advance when you're going to be afraid or greedy (because those are the two emotions you're going to feel when your money starts mooning or plummeting), and learning how to resist those emotions. It's a very dry book, but as of the 2003 edition at least, each chapter has a commentary relating it to (relatively) recent events and putting it in a helpful perspective.

See that? That's one of many articles on why CYTR is looking likely to be bought out after they present at ASCO next week.

You fucks want to buy something and then hold it for 12 hours and be a millionaire and that's not something you're going to be able to do. Start learning how to map out charts so you can make decent plays. I've been in CYTR since .49. You niggers don't read anything you're basically just gambling.

QMKR? You've probably never even heard of it. You cucks just want to play with penny stocks and lose money, if you're gonna play with shit worth less than $5 (not usually the game I'm into but CYTR is tasty) then at least read up on the company's financial background.

Dude tells you to read shit and you're too stupid to go back 1 year on a chart match it's dip from $3 to sub$1. Literally took me 5 minutes to look why.

>>2198170
If you were going to dump 100k in something slow with a high rate of return would you choose VOO and why?

some negative shit to drop the stock.

>>2198249
If you're going vanguard, I'd go with VTI over VOO because VTI is way cheaper per share and it tracks THE TOTAL MARKET. VOO only tracks the S&P 500. Which is fine, they also have the exact same pattern on a 1 year chart if you put the charts side by side. I'm not really into long holds, at one point but I had a huge chunk of my portfolio in VOO back in 2013 but that was also when I was unable to trade for a year so I just held it.

SSW just got labeled a 'strong buy' and was also ranked #1 out of 4 shipping giants that have survived the storm in container shipping.

https://seekingalpha.com/article/4076747-weathering-storm-shipping (Need to sign in)

The container shipping industry has bottomed out and Seaspan now has contracts on all of its 89 ships. The market will likely improve from here, yet the market hasnt caught up to improvements in the industry. If you are interested in making free money, buy and hold some SSW. Its a heavily beaten down stock that has a good dividend and good management. All the news sites that talk about it speak of its massive upside potential of about 75% or more. It also upped its next quarter estimates far above where it is today.

Didn't even know VTI existed. Thanks. How long have you been trading, also when I said high rate of return I meant like.. there's more likely a chance I get a return than a loss. Is CYTR actually a thing you're trading or what?

I figured you meant that, and I've been at it about 8 years. I had almost 230k in VOO back in 2013 and held it for a year, they are not known for a speedy large % gain. and yeah CYTR in my long term account I have a lot invested in it just because I've been bullishly averaging up since the .30's. In my day trade account I've just been scalping it once or twice a week for a few hundred-couple grand. I swing traded it yesterday and im still holding for some reason. I think it'll go back above .70 I might actually swing it till tuesday if it ends on a green candle.
>>
>>2198396
Hold my hand senpai what should I invest in for the short term gain?
>>
>>2198473
I'm not going to tell you what to buy, but short term I've been holding $FNJN since $2 though I sold off at open today and I bought back in at 2.70. I can see it going back to 3.30 watching it close tho. I picked up a few k shares of ARGS at .43 earlier today, and I have those 5k shares of CYTR from yesterday. Sadly day trading involves a lot of penny stocks.

You could also just do the FANG method that big firms charge you a fuckload on commission for even though it's braindead,
>>
>>2198514
What's the FANG method? Did you make that up?

It works but... you gotta have a lot of money to make it give you a valuable return.
and they let it sit for like 6 months or more and diversify your portfolio evenly between it. And they take like 4-6% on commission depending on what your returns will look like.
>>
>>2198555
You get the MACK div too don't you?

KMI is going to be a great long term entry soon. oil prices hopefully bottomed and will continue to go up. companies themselves will lag behind but when ERs come out they will be a "surprise" since it was so much cheapier last year

theyre just in VR production in general apparently
