Let's talk about social security.
>Will SS exist in 2065 when I retire?
>I am 25, make around $80k, will SS payments be enough to live off in old age?
If yes to both, should I even bother saving more than my employer match in my 401k?
Right now I'm kneecapping my potential fun money contributing the max allowable to my 401k.
Why shouldn't I just contribute the minimum to get my employer match and spend the extra money on the fun things in life while I'm young, single and my cock still works?

No
No
Any other questions?

Bankrupt by 2030.
NO. And NO.
how would these people know. I bet ss will exist
>>2106379
It already is in debt.
Our current SS tax is paying for the current retired population.
SS tax was originally supposed to be a forced retirement fund that increased in volume over time.
Now its young people paying for old people to live without working.
It will collapse once the boomers start retiring.

If I recall correctly, SS is due to run out by 2034. Also, no to both of your questions.
Will it exist in 2065? Most likely not
The problem is that even if it does still exist, why would any sane person ever want to contribute to it.
SS already has a double digit negative ROI for boomers.
SS, along with medicare, is a government sponsored ponzi.
Every dollar you pay into SS is just money wasted
Social security is a ponzi scheme relying on the next generations, and all western governments adopt increasingly negative eugenics policies (immigration of unqualified individuals, unconditional welfare).
You don't need a degree in statistics to see where this is headed. Unless a technological revolution acts as a crutch for our idiocracy, you will not see a penny of any SS contribution you make today.

I don't get this. Why not just make social security so people only get out of it what they (individually) put into it? Why build it up as a ponzi scheme?
>>2106819
Gubbment has to make money somehow
>>2106819
It was built up as a ponzi scheme for the following reasons:
a. rich people have better health, thus they live longer
b. politicians can pay off debts using SS

>Why not just make social security so people only get out of it what they (individually) put into it?
that was the original intent, for the government to hold onto your cash so you cant blow it and then whine when youre old and sickly, but now it acts as a redistribution scheme so poor old fucks who didnt save get more than they paid in.
