Guys shouldn't we expect a brief moon mission in BTC as entities scramble to buy bitcoin to prevent data loss?
No.

If by that you mean ditch btc for alts, then yes.

Why not? With $300-600 in BTC per target - multiplied by thousands of targets - that creates a shitload of demand

If you read the news you would see very few people have paid it. Every company backs up their data, the attack was low impact.

Heck, checking the blockchain they've only made like 50k so far. Not a particularly huge haul for how many agencies they're going to have looking for them.
The thing is they didn't hit money makers with this shit. They hit hospitals, and that only worked because hospitals are so shit at cutting tech corners they can't be bothered to keep their OS's up to date on security. Anyone to cheap to keep their systems from getting infected is too cheap to pay a ransom.
Only cheesey pizza sick fucks and freelancers are paying that shit.
Not even 100k was paid out

Did you just read about it on your facebook timeline, grandpa? That's Friday news. Like a million years in internet time.
The effects already manifested with a mini dip that was due anyway and the companies that matter already patched the vulnerability. Nothing to see here.

Everytime I post a legitimate question, I always expect that there is going to be one guy who lifts himself up by putting others down and showing how smart he is. I guess that was you. Do you feel better now? Your life must suck in some way if you treat others like that.
