Daily reminder that even if banks adopt the ripple protocol AND use a native token for transmittance, they STILL will not be using XRP, as setting up a separate ripple network and distributing the tokens to their members would be quick and facile and cost literally less than 1/1000 of the cost of buying a fuckton of XRP

Firstly, the way I see it, XRP is a vehicle for transactions, the actual cost of an individual XRP is not important, it costs the banks nothing less or more if they buy 1 billion dollars of XRP at 1cents or 1 dollar, the only thing important is that the coin is stable enough for it to be viable, thus the price is of no real concern (more so a benefit), only the volatility is. Again, the important thing is that when a bank dumps 1 billion $ on XRP is that it stays valued at 1 billion $, if that's 1xrp or 1 billion xrp it doesn't really matter at the end of the day.


Secondly, who are these "banks that can just distribute tokens to their members"? There's thousands of banks, do each make their own tokens? How do banks trade these tokens then, if they are issued by each bank individually, and who controls the supply of tokens, if each bank can just issue their own? Will banks accept made up internal tokens from competitive banks? The way I see it you need a 3rd party, not controlled by any individual bank, maybe someone like Ripple labs, to facilitate the use of the same token across different banks, control the supply, and bring different institutions together and form a consensus on the use of XRP as the vehicle for transactions.
