- old rich people / banks have huge advantages over you or the odds are heavily stacked against you and you would have to use edgy leveraged instruments.

You could just stick it into an index tracker portfolio and watch it accumulate nicely over the space of 10 years with ~6% annual growth, which over time will compound to a pretty sizeable amount.
