Are you stupid?
Can you stake MTG cards?
Can your earn with them?
You can with ETH (once casper is enabled) and with PIVX.

Knew a guy who used his military bonus to open a mtg shop.
Lost everything in 7 months.
Don't be an idiot.
If you're a top player, know the meta in each format, and know what cards might become more valuable with new releases then you can "invest" in magic using your tourney winnings.
If you aren't on that level then don't bother, that particular micro-economy isn't going to pay out for you.

Sorry to hijack your thread but I'm wondering if anyone has gotten significantly more money but not wealthy off of profiting from exploiting the current nerd culture? I was wondering if The Walking Dead comics are a good investment or if it will eventually be a bubble and burst. I've got some doubles I'm willing to sell in a few years if the TV show is still going strong and value increases.

Also do you think the collector's market or appeal has damaged things collectables like comics or trading card games?
Trade MTG cards at MTGoX

Assuming that's an alpha investments vid, can't click now.
As a mtg player real answer here-
Unless you are willing to open a high quality store that sells products and hosts several events a week, you can't really 'invest'. Prices only barely fluctuate, and the only cards that will 100% go up in value over time (due to possibility of reprints) are cards on the "Reserved List".
The cards on the Reserved List will never be reprinted. If you Google the list and can find a card that's <$1 that has good art, a played "tribe", or a unique effect you could attempt to buy out every copy of the card and then sell it for whatever you want. Some people have managed this before.
All in all its a bad investment. Rudy makes money only because he invests in sealed boxes and reserved list cards, and he needs the boxes for the multiple stores he owns. If he only resold boxes online and wasn't able to profit off of shitty sets in his shop he wouldn't be investing in sealed product.
