There's a difference, speculation is where you have reasons to believe the price will appreciate, investing is where you have a long term low risk plan. Since cryptos are based entirely around one new currency surviving against other currencies, it's pretty much a matter of understanding the fundamentals and making a proper position size buy-in.
Why is that so hard to understand? Gambling is where you know you don't have an edge and taking the bet anyways.
