How do I find qualified job candidates for my start-up?

I need someone with an engineering background, preferably who worked in some capacity as a consultant.

I post positions on a bunch of free job boards, and all I seem to get are shitty candidates with liberal arts degrees and no relevant experience.

Attend job fairs at local universities is probably the best way. Also, make sure "engineer" is in the job title for your position on job boards. Preferebly something slightly more specific(mechanical engineer/electrical engineer/systems engineer/design engineer/controls engineer/aero engineer, etc.)

also, it what salary have you been posting? I just graduated as a mech engineer a few months ago and did the job search thing, and anything less than 60-65k wasnt even on the radar for any of my friends or I. For someone with more experience, you might have to raise that to 75-80k.

LinkedIn?
Email supervisors at colleges asking for recent grads?
And good old fashioned networking, do you know anyone who works for a consultancy, give them a call see if they can put you onto any leads. Never be afraid to use your personal network to canvass for potential employees, six degrees of separation and all that shit.
>>
if you find a "consultant" willing to work for less than 200k a year you're getting bamboozled

What's your salary band and at what equity stake? If you are offering under 6 figures for such a high risk position, you're gonna get crap. You might do better to find an offshore team to work with, though that comes with it's own bullshit.
