Yes, a lot of them are. I know several of them personally. Most of them here at one point made a bunch of money in crypto when one of their coins went up 50% in a day, this gets them hooked, like cocaine. Don't believe me? Look at all of the sob stories on /r/ethtrader. It all started with the short term gains.

Many of them invest 90% of their portfolio in one or two coins. This is outright gambling. A lot of the shills are shilling their coin because they have 90% of their portfolio in that coin. They will literally live and die by the price. They DON'T learn their mistakes, and continue putting their hope and faith like a religion into their currency they think will moon. And even if it does moon, they won't cash out, because they think it'll still go up more and they can never live with themselves if they miss that chance.

The best advice is to not have an emotional tie to a coin, and invest 2-10% AT MOST of your total portfolio into a given coin you believe in. Any more and you end up getting desperate and become a shill. Almost all of these shills end up getting burned out, unless they're, like you say, psychopaths.
