im thinking of going back to school for my MBA
currently working in audit (no CPA), and i dont like it very much truth be told, and im interested in RE investing
1. is an MBA worth it?
2. is an MBA with a real estate focus a good idea?
any advices on the topic of MBA's and/or real estate careers would be appreciated (im in NYC btw)

It's 2017 and I'd say an MBA is rarely worth it.
I would ONLY get one if your employer will pay for some or all of it and the promise you'll get rewarded for having one.

But what if I need the MBA in order to break into my dream job of investment banking?

1. Yes
2. Do programs have real estate focus? I think a standard management/finance would give you a wider reach in case real estate investing/management changes..
I would argue a say the MBA still holds some value. Way more than a general 4 year degree at least. I work in healthcare administration and it still sets you apart. Being denied promotion/growth due to lack of masters is still common.
If you are going for the CPA you basically need the same amount of credits to sit for the exam so might as well get it.

dude wat
I have a degree in business and energy engineering. The MBA holds value here as long as you are set to lead a company.
