Is wearing a dress shirt, dress pants and a sports jacket overdressed for an interview as a restaurant server?
Most likely, unless its a very upscale restaurant. Just ditch the sports jacket and you'd be fine though.

I don't like the look without it though, would it really be so bad to wear it?
please reply.
you need to tell us what kind of restaurant it is but yea its overdressed m8

Pretty mid-tier one, to be quite honest. But I'm a NEET so I figure I might as well look good on an interview, since I'll have a uniform everyday so it's not like I'll be so nicely every single day.
overdressing is just as bad as underdressing

But how is it overdressing if it's an interview?

Just wear your sports jacket that you so clearly want to, its obvious you want permission instead of advice here.

I just don't get why you guys think it's so overdressed. Yeah it's above what the average person would probably wear, but how could that possibly be a negative thing?
That's like saying enunciating your words too well and having interview answers that are too good is "overprepared".

Wear a pair of jeans instead. So jeans plus shirt (tucked) plus sport jacket.

>Jeans to an interview

they're gonna smell the NEET on you so you might as well overdress and let them see it too you dumbfuck
>>1955052
Absolutely do not wear the jeans, what is wrong with you?
OP A dress shirt, dress pants, and a jacket over it is perfect.

How do they dress in the restaurant?
Go in one time before the interview, notice what the servers wear, and wear a close-but-not-exact style as them.
Make the manager think you just walked off the server floor for a chat.
enough of the bullshit, OP post a fuckin picture of you wearing the jacket. you posted a thread asking for opinions and they didn't even matter
