Not many people know this but Monacoin is basically the Japanese equivalent of Dogecoin. And with Bitcoin usage taking off in Japan, Monacoin could follow because the frugal Japanese may see it as a cheaper alternative. Monacoin is also trying to activate Segwit which could also be a factor in this rise.
