Not sure if this thread belongs here or not, but this is a question i've had for a long time, and have never found an answer. Is it possible to buy things such as food or drinks at production cost? I.E. how soda costs only pennies to produce and buy as a company, and then it is marked up by several hundred percent when sold to average consumers. If it is possible, how/where would i be able to buy it at? Ive looked online so much for an answer but came up with nothing
No, it is not possible to buy most things new at production cost. The suppliers in most cases have exclusive agreements with their buyers, and the fact that they buy so much in bulk enables them to massively bring down the price.
What you can do is make a lot of it yourself though, or buy used. Soda is just carbonated water, sweetener, and flavoring, for instance, and a year's supply of those things would cost maybe ten bucks total.
depends where you live
most generic drinks are made by one or two bottlers per region
here the local one is
http://cottbeverages.com/
if you're willing to make an order worth thousands, you can buy wholesale off them
don't know what you'd do with that much product
a show like shark tank or dragons den might mention what's the minimum order size

Legal fees are the biggest reason why they mark the price up substantially so unless you want to pay for an army of lawyers or a bunch of bureaucrats just for making a small profit on soda, good luck.

Do you have a food liquidator in your local area? They usually buy up mfg. mistakes
Buying at production cost is next to impossible, but buying cans with dents or fucked up labels might get you lower than prod. cost.
