Hey dudes. I have about 1000$ that aren't doing anything in my credit union account right now and I want to start getting in on that investment business.
I hear Mutual Funds are the safest bet for a starter. Is this necessarily true or should I just buy a couple of say, Coca-Cola stocks?

1. Get a job.
2. Start an emergency fund.
3. Save an additional at least $3K
Then come back.

I work part-time at a min-wage job while also going to school.
What's the benefit of an emergency fund?

If you have parents around that will front you any money you need without asking where your current money is (unlikely but probable) then I guess you don't need a fund. Good to have some cash in case shit happens.
>car engine dies 2k repair
>tires blow 700$ expense
>speeding ticket 350$
>felony arrest 3k bail
You get the idea. Better to have the cash on standby and not need it then to need it and not have it.
1k won't do much so it probably isn't worth it. If you don't mind putting the time in then you can use it to set up drop shipping/online business to make money.
You could play around on the stock market but again 1000 won't gain much unless you get lucky.
