I got offered a teller position at a bank and they are starting me at $11.65 did I get lowballed? I live in Southern California
No. The median wage for bank tellers is around $11.50.
Lol, I was a Bank Teller at a Credit Union for $15.50 in the midwest last summer. Yeah, you did, but you get bonuses and commissions for selling useless products to people that don't need them lol. They pay better here in Bumfuck Fargo, since there's nothing here except the oil market that propped up the last few years.

Also, I am Black, they pay better if you are a more well dressed professional and can actually speak proper english. My coworker was netting $17.60 an hour after being there for three years. I quit after 4 months. Was offered an internship in commercial lending at a competitor. Being a processor is better, don't have to deal with people and as a loan processor, you choose when to work. Netting around 42K a year.

Considering theyre paying you above minimum wage to do the job of a machine I'd say youre fine

I'll look into that. Really I took the teller position to get my foot in the door in the bank industry to make a career with it later. Needed to start somewhere basically.

I make $12/hr at Best Buy

That's good. Best Buy won't really help me in a bank career though.

Let me know if you need some help. Here's the info of my boss. Try to learn a bit about him and how he does things. Get his history and his info. It helps.BY the way, when you first start out as a bank teller, leverage the customers and build relationships with them. They get picky with who they go to. Overtime they will build trust with you so you can take advantage of it and sell them products. Also becareful of check scams, cash scams, and cash advance to money order scams.
Also with bigger cities, fake bills seems to be common, especially if you are doing night deposits for businesses. Always keep your drawer organized. I used colorful paperclips to bundle my bills, Everything in 25s except 5s, they do 20s each. Every 100, make sure you make it a bundle and strap and update the computer. Here's a funny youtube video for you.

Another tip is, beware and observant, you see a lot of crazy shit at banks at strange times of the days, like you see people of walmart. Some don't shower, some smell bad, some have messed up teeth, and etc. Becareful and be safe, don't misplace your keys and always locked everything if you go to the restroom or for lunch. Be paranoid and always balance your drawer and have your checks ran every 2 hours. Word to the wise, don't piss of your coworkers, they have seniority over you. Also if a customer/client wants to get with you after work, it's a set up. My coworker got fired after a glass window was broken.
