I have 25k in cash, 38k in taxable brokerage account, 21k in tIRA, and 71k in 401k. I'm 28 yrs old. I have a BSEE but have lost most of my technical knowledge due to not using it at work (DoD). Wondering if I have enough money to quit my current job without anything lined up or should I wait until I have an offer. Or is grad school an option. Also thinking about getting a civil engineering degree. Or a Masters in CSE. Unless you have a PE, the market for EE's (outside of defense industry) is pretty shit. Single, no wife or kids. No debt, mortgage or car. Please respond.

>Wondering if I have enough money to quit my current job without anything lined up
You have enough money, anon. It's a matter of whether you want to stain your career with a gap. Unless you're literally being asked to commit murder, I'd just find my next step before leaving the current job.

A lot of options, do what you want rather than chase the money. Do not underestimate how cushy the federal game is.

>eng degree
>can't do simple financial calculation
Keep working. Do a masters "professional" program at night. Get another job. No reason to burn through your money. You're far off from a financial independence number.

Motorbikes are more value for money.
Don't do civil engineering. Too saturated of a market. Just keep working where you do and just do schooling on the side for a different engineering degree
