When can we expect Amazon to get into the internet TV business and offer a service that competes with Sling TV, YouTube TV, PlayStation Vue, and DirectTV Now?

I thought they already do that, isn't that what all those Amazon Prime/Studios shows are?

No, that's them competing with Netflix and Hulu. I'm talking about these services where you get your live TV channels through the internet rather than cable or satellite. Amazon's already sort of getting into that, you can order standalone subscriptions of HBO, Showtime, Starz, and Cinemax through Amazon Channels if you're a Prime member. I wonder if you'll be able to get a whole TV package deal though Amazon in the near future.

This is all news to me so here's my totally unsubstantiated opinion:
I doubt it, because that would mean licensing deals with many different networks and navigating a myriad of deals with Comcast and other cable providers. Considering Amazon's massive cloud resources I can see them courting production companies and syndication licenses for some kind of VOD service, after all, they have the massive capacity to host and deliver all that content. It'd just be BYO cable.
Fucking Amazon buying and doing everything they can to rule the world. inb4 Amazon OS, Amazon search engine, Amazon social media, Amazon phone, Amazon porn, Amazon drugs, Amazon h2o

>Amazon phone
They already tried that. It failed. There is an Amazon OS on their Fire tablets though. I supposed Goodreads counts as social media, and they're already selling Amazon vitamins, so drugs may not be that far off.
