I just opened baby's first brokerage account with ~3k and want to invest heavily in weed companies. I feel like this is an industry in it's infancy that will eventually be bigger than big tobacco. Is this logic incorrect?
To be completely honest with you senpaitachi I have no idea what I'm doing and I have never been on this board before, pls no memes

Honestly just invest it in an S&P 500 ETF or something similar. Picking stocks is very hard and you're probably going to see better results if you just invest in the market as a whole instead of trying to pick winners.

I know this is the smart move and what I plan on doing with the majority of it any good ETFs you would be so kind to recommend? My dad said this is the first week of sell-offs in a while and it's the time to buy while the market is down and I'm ready to pull the trigger
I also am willing to take a significant portion (maybe 500-750) in individual stocks. If shit hits the fan I can stomach losing the majority of it cause I don't have expenses to worry about

Personally I go with USAA funds because I bank with them and it is convenient.
I would look into Vanguard funds, they have a good reputation for having low fees.

>that will eventually be bigger than big tobacco
Big tobacco is already preparing to muscle it's way in the second it becomes legal on a reasonable scale. Big tobacco companies WILL become the big marijuana companies.
what you want to do is buy the big 3 canadian companies
weed
acb
aph
got to find their otc names

Big tobacco will buy out all the little weed companies, so buying and holding good weed companies isn't a bad idea if you want to get money on the buyouts.

fuck an etf, schwab's sp500 and total market mutual funds have a $1 entry and the lowest expense ratios at 0.03%, beating vanguard now
i was buying shares of vanguard etfs to get the 0.05%er without the $10k min but just opened a schwab brokerage alongside the roth ira i've had there to start throwing small amounts into swppx and/or swtsx
