Wrong. US dollar has value because taxes are collected in US dollars, by threat of force. It means everyone wants and needs (in the US) US dollars. It is also the default medium of exchange in the strongest economy in the world, so people outside the US want it too for its staying power.

ETH isn't even really a currency. It's just a dressed up way to pay for compute time. You're pretty much shitting yourselves Amazon EC2 credits.
