do any of you know to what extent most companies go to uncover the truth about applicants? how blatant can lying be on a resume before they figure it out, or is it, as a whole, just not worth it? I know some employers are full blown retarded because I borrowed a friend's resume format once and just switched all my info with it but forgot to change the first part, the bio, and I still got a call back for the position and got hired (some warehouse shit).

So those of you who have either worked in or with someone who reviews applicants, how deep can I make my rabbit hole before I'm figured out? Only for certain types of jobs orrr? Thanks, all
>>
Embellish.
Don't flat out lie about anything.

What I mean is this. If you had a former job but you were maybe a grunt, but you SAW other people at the job do certain tasks that you thought were impressive and you yourself could describe in perfect detail and which you know the ins and outs of, then say you did it. Say you did what that other person did as long as you can answer even the most detailed of questions about it.

Let's say you were in university and was given a really hard assignment. But you had an awesome idea that would have been amazing which might have blown away the professor and you seriously thought about doing it, or maybe someone else actually did your idea. BUT you ran out of time and didn't do the whole thing/you just did the bare minimum instead cause it was more practical of course. Tell the interviewer you did the big idea and describe in perfect detail what you would have done and just act as though you really went the extra mile and did all that.

Don't lie about anything directly, like saying you had a job you didn't (unless it's some fucking blue collar shit that nobody cares about, then you can do whatever the fuck you want and nobody cares) or that you went to a university you didn't or something. Those are big lies. Don't do that. Just embellish what you did do or what you know how to do or wish you had done.

Most larger companies will conduct full background checks before hiring. Someone i know ones told me that when he was trying to hire someone, he was told by the background check people that they were unable to verify one of the jobs on the candidate's CV - when he worked in a coffee shop when he was 16. There not all that thorough, but anything major would certainly be picked up

>>1902793
to sorta combine these two answers, if I was to embellish, to what extent would they be able to uncover it? If I described that other person's job as my own, would they look into differing it when they conduct that check? Or does it simply say employed by X employer for Y time?

Whatever is on public record and Google

The most background check companies do is verify employment and your degree. They won't ask details, they'll just ask what your position was and how much you got paid.

A company made me go through three interviews, three aptitude exams, get fingerprints/ pee sample, and then a health test because I work on the asset side of insurance. Depends on who you are going to work for and the benefits they are going to pay you. I'll do what ever I can to keep my job that has free insurance, flextime, a pension, and a 105% matching up to my 5% contribution for my 401k. If you get something good, take care of it, if you don't take care of it, it will screw you over big time. Donate some BTC to me if this helps.

I work in compliance and it's a sweet gig, just being paid to read and be on excel all day. If I am going to hire someone under me, the better be willing to fight for the job they want and better be up to speed. Also, if you need my contact, my name is Adam Lundgren. Use me as a referral in the twin cities.

90% of companies don't check fucking shit, they don't even call the references.

I think the only big lie that can be found out is school records.

Also if you are applying for a government agency or job where great security clearance is a part of it then this rule of thumb is null and void, they will check your shit.

One final tip. If a previous employer is called they can only provide 2 pieces of information: your position and dates worked.

>or is it, as a whole, just not worth it?
It is, as a whole, just not worth it

>what extent companies go to uncover the truth about applicants?
I run two businesses doing background checks & investigations for employers all around the world. We get everyone from engineers / doctors / lawyers / government departments, down to individual business owners looking for their first employee. I'm honest when I say around 70% of background checks turn up evidence of undesirable character traits:
>contradicting claims (lying, where we then go and provide proof of the false claim)
>dishonesty (embellishing)
>discriminatory behaviour (yes, all those posts on facebook that you share about faggots, niggers and retards proves a point about who you are as a person), i.e.;
>illegal behaviour (drug use, crime)
>illicit interests (everything from illegal sexual interests to hacking)
>excessive alcohol consumption
>criminal associates (if your buddies / orbits are felons, or display active participation / interest in criminal behaviours)
>all your personal information (previous addresses, employment history, education, professional and tertiary qualifications)
>memberships (sporting clubs, political affiliations [can't show this to employers who are making a decision of tenure, but can if you're affiliated with a designated hate-group or criminal group]
>passions (what do you like as a person, artistic? musical? creative? logical? are you into programming, or interpretive dance? etc.)
>any other concerning behaviours (whatever we notice that raises concern - such as mental health issues that you broadcast, or posts such as OP's)
>character integrity (the overall integrity, honesty, loyalty and courage of your character; if we can ascertain it)

>how deep can I make my rabbit hole before I'm figured out?
The deeper you dig yourself in, the further you have to climb out. This is a dumb fucking idea OP, don't do it. Sooner or later someone will notice, they always do.

As a follow up, here's an example of deceitful conduct, fraudulent behaviour, dishonesty and contradicting claims; without ever lying on a resume.

>physical rehabilitation specialist (a doctor) applies for a job at a high-end injury rehabilitation clinic in South Africa
>this guy in South Africa creates job profile on platform similar to linkedin
>guy creates business-profile on same platform, representing 'Shell Oil'
>guy gets the 'Shell Oil' profile to give his personal profile a five-star rating
>we proved that he used email [[email protected]] for his personal account, and [[email protected]] for the false business account
>no way to definitively prove that Shell Oil doesn't really own that address and didn't really five-star his profile, but our client got the point
>he represented his first degree as a bachelor in economics, majoring in business finance & commerce
>went and found that he actually obtained a bachelor in accounting
>without ever stating that he worked for Shell Oil, and by 'embellishing' his tertiary qualifications, he lost a six-figure job and a golden opportunity

And it's his own damn fault. I wouldn't want someone like that working for me either. OP, work at a gas station; take some courses, go to school and get a useful degree, and work hard like everyone else. What are you going to do when, after 2 years (at best), your employer finds out you've lied and fires you. How are you going to explain a 2 year hole in your resume? Lie yourself out of that one too? It's for your own good man
>>
>>1902738

I lied about a prior internship I was fired from and my next two internship firms never checked.
>>
>>1902664
Just be honest. I told this company I was a community organizer and everything worked out just fine.
>>
What about in cases where you are living abroad and applying for internships in that country. Would they even call places in your home country to check if you did that internship or not?
>>
>>1903186
Do they ask if you got fired?
