How many jobs do you have to apply to before something sticks? I've heard a ratio of 1 callback/phone interview per 10 applications is standard but I'm getting discouraged after dozens of applications and so few nibbles.
Is it really just a numbers game? I thought after getting some experience itd be easier to find a job but it's proving just as impossible
Bump for it sounds interesting

For teenage jobs like in stores and shit? Out of 100-200 applications maybe 5 interviews, good luck nailing one.
Professional jobs? If you suck up and take low salary, slightly better. Of course if you're a real superstar you wont have a problem (people will look for you), but then why would you wageslave lel?

I'm talking professional jobs. Even handling millions of dollars in budget and great results seems like "meh" to most companies, I don't get it....

You're either in a tiny field or your resume is whack. I switched jobs over a year ago and got like 20 cold calls a day from recruiters. I still get a few per week.
I started looking for a new job tonight, applied to 1 place and already got a call back
Try going on craigslist and apply to local businesses, not massive corporations. Corporate jobs take forever to reply to you where as small businesses are more responsive and usually make better employers.
And only apply to things you could tolerate, if not enjoy. Its just not worth the time applying to something you think will make you miserable, even if your desperate.
best of luck OP
