>I put $21k into mutual funds last night
>Market crashes like 2% or whatever it did today
Am I fucked? Should I have timed the market and spaced out my investments, so put in 5k last night, 5k next weekend, 5k the week after that? Or is timing the market a waste and I just got unlucky? Or is this change /nothing/ ?
You just got unlucky. Don't panic. Investing is over a period of years, not days.
You should've timed it, the fuck were you thinking putting your life savings in like that. Honestly though I would pull it we're in a bubble right now

>invests in mutual funds
>panics over a 2% crash
Do you understand what they are for? You just got unlucky, it'll rebound or not. Most likely over your lifetime you can expect consistent returns.

ur gonna lose 2% in fees anyway so just chill
>mutual funds
people still use these?
>have to distribute 80/20 asset allocation across 401k, IRA, AND taxable account
>short term redemption fee getting in the way of allocating proper amount of bonds, waaay over-allocated stocks
>fed raises rates
>stock AND bonds advance
>entire portfolio swings up $2000
>oh my god I want off mr shekelbergs ride
>stocks fall today for no fucking reason
>entire portfolio swings down $2000
>I WANT OFF MR SHEKELBERGS RIDE

Adults who use actual brokerages and have more than $10k in capital to spare use those, yeah.

I heard mutual funds are a bit of a racket because of the service charges when you try and move them or cash out? There might be better investment vehicles out there.
>>1885385
hhmm, I'm an adult, with 4 actual brokerages and over $30k in capital to spare and don't use them... thats weird...

So what's the best alternative?

bad timing. last week had highest etf inflows in many years, retailers jumping all at the same time, at the top, some of them will get trapped instantly thus resulting them to panic
we are looking to high chance of even 10% correction currently. after that dow should continue with force upwards once again
