I have $5000 USD burning a hole in my pocket. Is there any sort way I can invest it that isn't high risk? I'm not looking to make money quickly just want it as more of a safety net for when I get older. My initial thought was to just let it sit in a CD for a while but after like 5 years I'll probably just have $10 gained from it.

Hopefully you figure something out. I live in a place known for high cost of living in the US and only make $65k. Only sticking with my job for pension and I'm a highschool dropout without many options. Hoping to have a second income without needing a second job.
