Alright boys, looks like we're going back down to $35, now cause of the dipshit that fully cashed out at $35.09.

Could it be a chance refuel or could it just be another false alarm?
>>
>>1868273
I'd just hold. That's the plan
>>
Will it really go back to $35 ? And how did someone cash out at $35? Was a typo made in someone's sell order and someone had a buy order at that price maybe

This shit is confusing but at least this will stabilize the eth prices hopefully
>>
>>1868273

He sold .1 billion ETH all at once, which is why, I think, he had to sell for so cheap ($35 instead of $50)

This makes me think it was some kind of early miner who had got in so early that selling at $35 would still make him rich as fuck.

Seriously that dip was awesome. For those that solder during it. I made a newbie mistake too at one time. Just hold. Buy and hold. This tech has a large network of support. I learned about it when it was $11 was verified on an exchange when it was $13 then made some panic sells got back in at $20 and it's been quite a research and learning experience of both holding through the BS and learning about the potential of Ethereum since it advances on btc unlike other alt coins.
>>
ITT: Proof that most people on /biz/ have no clue how an exchange works and have never understood the match-making price discovery or even the basic concept what market cap is.

It's hilarious to read. Especially the people attempting to figure out how much volume was moved, what the impact on market cap meant and for how much he cashed out.

Oh /biz/, never change. I love your cluelessness.

I have some BTC on localbitcoins

How do I buy ETH with this
>>
The problem with bitcoin IMO is that calculating the blockchain is mining. But since there is a hardcap at some point you are not making any money anymore when you mine bitcoin. So you stop. Which means the computing power for the blockchain will shrink, which at some point will mean that the blockchain cannot be calculated in realtime anymore and creates a backlog and makes the currency slow. Which then decreases the value even further until nobody mines anymore and in the end makes the currency unusable.

Am I right?

This is already a problem with bitcoin. The mining is just icing on the cake (which like you said will eventually stop), but the actual mechanism and theoretical solution is transaction fees. Any input you don't spend on an output goes towards the miner confirming your transaction in a new block. But naturally miners prefer transactions with high fees. So if you need your transaction confirmed fast, you need to fork over a substantial amount, otherwise you may be stuck waiting hours and hours until someone get around to confirming it. And with the increased difficulty of block confirmation, the fees will need to rise.

Since only with the confirmation you can assure whoever you're paying that you don't pull a double spending scam on his ass, this will seriously hinder the use of BTC in everyday transactions. With cash you can simply transfer physical ownership of the money. With CCs the card company guarantees the money. With BTC you are stuck until confirmation and if you want to speed that up *you* as the customer have to pay fees, unlike cash and CCs where the business carries the handling fees. Sure, you can bunch up a lot of payments into a single transaction, but it takes even more time and is still clumsy and requires a fee.

BTC in its current implementation would be an awful replacement for fiat. It's totally not built for numerous small transactions (which are the bulk of everyday transactions) and will cost a serious amount of money in fees to use.

is eth mining feasible now? you can get some $300 gpu which will give you 30 mh/s? Is it worth it or missed the boat?

CPU is not important, find a cheap one, even 2-cores will do fine. Any motherboard that supports 2-4 GPUs. The GPUs need to have more than 2GB of VRAM. You should at least have 8GB RAM, i have 12. Also, be sure to get a good PSU

Can you guys please just make a separate thread for miner talk.... most of us are here to buy and hold
>>
>>1868667
Mining is decentralized, retard.
Even Vitalik can't force miners into a fork they're not okay with. The DAO / ETC debacle showed that perfectly. The reticent miners went on their own chain and the majority continued the project they supported. Any political proposal not accepted by miners is bound to fail, and I don't see miners accepting something against their interests, like tax for example.

This. The argument for investment is the broad use cases to aid/enable e-commerce. Ether has the goal of making payments easier for the average consumer, and proof of concept is in place in test-net for several companies right now.

The near future of convenient mobile/electronic payments will likely be using ether.
