All you need to know is you buy high and sell low.
Do you have 25k to trade with or are you gonna do Forex?
Day trading is BS and operates off the pseudo science of technical analysis. If you really want to learn how to invest w/o going to school, cold call local associates at hedge funds and say you're looking for a mentor. You'd be surprised that about 20% or so would be willing to do it because of the ego boost of being a mentor to someone.

I made 800 dollars just today on a demo account trading forex. There is some element of skill to it because everyone knows the methods, there exists a metagame which can even become a self-fulfilling prophecy and lead you to correct results.
After I'm consistently profitable, a london trading house has agreed to invest in me when I've shown I can grow capital consistently.
Not even trolling, I didn't believe it either, and if you'd asked me a few months ago I'd say day-trading is a great way to gamble your money away.
But there is serious method in technical analysis.
