What about derivatives, options and such?

1000 years because you can't predict the market

Use autistic finance skills and company/market news to forecast earnings of a company. If increase expected (from prior period, yearly/ quarterly), long with a call equity option. If decrease expected, short with put.

Will lose significant amounts to begin with, but it could be possible to gradually improve on forecasting, so that you eventually win more than you lose.

Granted, I haven't yet put any of this to practice, and it's obviously going to be a bit more complicated. But impossible? Not too sure there.

That's why you should try to increase your income first and then maybe start thinking about risk

This is what I concluded

Let's say someone wants to retire 5 years from now

If they bust their guts, they'll earn enough money outside their investment accounts to cover a few years living expenses

They then retire early, live off the excess saved cash for 3 to 5 years, meanwhile their nestegg is still compounding

Even if the market takes a shit, they haven't drawn down their invested capital, it's all intact for the rebound
