Now, as for dropshipping, never done it, simply came to lol at pic: but I assume with higehr value items you have to up the game on everything around it: the advertising, the delivery, and also you can't just sell t-shirts or whatever anymore. You need to offer something that people are use to paying more for so they *feel* like they are getting value.
Right?

No way I'd marry that smug bitch.
I have, make sure you test the product first to see if it's good quality. Order one take professional pictures. Hire someone to test it out to see if it's functional/good quality and the you'll have no problem drop shipping the product just demand every item be sent with the same quality you receive. (Message the seller) and I guarantee you you'll be okay.

For items over $50, people will want to talk to someone on the phone about the product before spending so much on it. That means you need to shell out money for call center employees. Not advised.

You can literally rent a secretary + business number for as low as 80$ per month from the same companies who rent office spaces, give her a script to follow and tell her to forward the call to your cell if needed. If he's talking about drop-shipping high value items, he can definitely afford that.
