Currently a company driver but I'm looking into becoming a owner/operator. what kind of financial backing should I have in place before buying the truck? also, zero down or 10% down? Looking into heavy spec'd T800 KW's.
Financing a semi is for cucks that don't last.
Save at least $100K. Buy a used truck for ~$25K. Spend ~$10-15K fixing it up. Then have money for expenses while you get the grasp of being O/O. Even then you'll probably fail or cry and quit, but at least you won't have a daunting $120K loan.
Also, go to /o/ and ask in the TruckerFag threads. TruckerFag is an O/O and will tell you the same thing.

I'm a marketing manager for a KW dealership in Canada. Prices are great for American buyers right now, and we can finance and deliver. Let me know if you want some more info.
