>hate job
>it makes me unhappy to go there every day
>want to quit real bad
>don't have another job lined up although im applying for shit
if i were to quit my job now on good terms w/ my employer, how negative does that gap in job history look? and how would i explain it in future interviews?

Nobody gives a shit if they really want you
I was jobless for two years and they didnt even mention it in the interview
If they ask just tell them the truth, you were looking for a new direction in life or something like that

ok thanks man.

What job did you apply to.
In what geographical location.
Thanks in advance.
(this sounds like switzerland level shit where people don't have to worry about huge gaps).

LOL. This really explains why you advised OP to "be honest."
It doesn't work this way in US/Canada. Resume has to have maximum fluff. Lies and exaggerations must be told.

You got it all wrong. People dont "penalize you" for work gaps or for quitting jobs. They do so for lacking common sense- how does a reasonable person pay their rent, bills, retirement, etc on savings? They don't, it means they are dumb and leave their jobs because they just feel like it. That's why we have jobs when we leave jobs because its foolish to do it in a capitalist world and esp in the current economy. There are a number of things you can do to improve your situation, quitting should be the last option. Its no cure for depression and neetbux are drying up, friends
Glad I live in America and employment gaps mean fuck all.
I will work for 6-9 months, quit for 3-6 months and travel, then get a new job.

Unless you fucked off and went on a bender just tell the truth and maybe embellish a bit.
