So this is my dream career: I want to be a CFO/CEO/finance guy who starts working for companies that are slowly going bankrupt and fix them by cutting costs and restructuring. As a person I'm rather frugal and sceptical and I like telling others what to do.
Is it a good idea for me to major in accounting?
Is this an attainable career?

Turnaround and restructuring advising is a very lucrative field. People who do this for major companies make millions.
>Is it a good idea for me to major in accounting?
Maybe, but probably no. Finance or general business would be far more useful, and you're going to need an MBA to to this at a high level.
>Is this an attainable career?
Depends. The people who do this at a high level are Ivy League type with the credentials to match. But if you're content helping Bob's Taco Restaurant with their cashflow problems, then just become an accountant.
