Sup /biz/.
I'm a 25 y/o contractor and I've saved up $12,000 USD.

I'd like to know where to begin investing.

My assumption is that low risk investments are the best place to start, but I'm not sure how much of my savings to dump in, or what type of return I'll see. Do you have any advice for a noob?
I have a decent house that I built, and my parents payed for the materials, so there's no interest. The agreement is to pay them back over the next 15 years. Really, this is just a bit of background to let you know that this is my main expense.
Currently making between $38,000 and $50,000 annually, depending on how good of a year I have.
