i mean im dumb but not that dumb, I'm just wondering why my wallet is taking so damn long to synchronize. eth is not for NEETs i guess.

same went to https://etherchain.org/ to type my wallet address to verify while waiting for block to sync on my wallet and it was all verified and completed thereafter. No worries

how long does this shit take to sync tho? It's been syncing since I made this post and it's still syncing. (using mist wallet and geth --fast)

Do you have a private key file in your keystore folder?
If you use myetherwallet.com you can open your wallet by selecting the file and typing your password. Then you can use the myetherwallet site to send your or whatever.
The actual eth client takes hours and hours to sync its like 3 million heavy ass blocks. Just leave it running and when its finally synced up to the blockwhere your wallet was created you will then be able to view your balance etc. Dont worry, your eth is still there its just your wallet has not caught up with the blockchain.

Well, it finally did sync up. That was about 14 hours though but now I can see it in the mist client wallet, which is nice. I only intend to hold this measly investment of $150 to see if this thing will really 'go to the moon'. Mostly because of FOMO. Good to know MyEtherWallet exists.

Remember to copy your wallet .json file in multiple places. And maybe an unencrypted copy of your private key on paper somewhere. Because if your hard drive crashes and you lose your private key your eth is gone forever.
