Why is everyone with any form of authority in the work sector always so infatuated with busy work? I left the military precisely because I was sick to death of wasting hours upon hours with pretending to look busy for the sake of appearances and then I get into the civilian work sector and it's the exact same bullshit at every fucking job.

Public sector

The concept is theoretical for me. My days are spent just trying to survive the neverending things that need solving / meetings that need attending / etc.

My job is extremely simple, and it always seems that the more simple the job I'm doing, the greater the likelihood that some asshole is going to be try to change everything I'm doing in order to fill it with as many pointless, unproductive tasks as possible, or at the very least if I'm not doing anything to make sure the nothing I'm doing is as miserable as possible.

Are Busywork Associate Supervisors simply being outsourced to every job I work at?

I suspect the problem is you don't have a job that people respect. This doesn't say anything bad about you its just that jobs where people think they can't do your job are jobs where people tend to leave you alone.

"IF you aren't doing anything why are you getting paid?" is a question that needs to be answered.
>because I'm the fucking doctor
>because I'm the one who responds to disasters
>because I"m the only reason this system works
>because my project is coming along well/I oversee programs that are going well
>because I make sales

Now that's not fair. I've worked in both and, let me tell you, the private sector can squander time with the best of them. Software development is the worst. You have no idea how much they prize spending 3 hours every day on a recurring problem to avoid spending 3 hours once to fix it forever. Or how much of a clusterfuck they'll let build up to avoid admitting that a junior developer (or know-nothing protected class) snowed their way into a senior architect position.

I actually got out of that job classification because I had enough of having my time squandered so flagrantly. Ironically, I now get to do actual development work without a micromanaging incompetent on my back.

I suspect you're probably right. I do very menial security night shifts at a factory. Literally anyone can do my job. The problem for them, and plus for me, is that they can't find anyone willing to do my job, especially at night, without a criminal history, and that can pass a drug test.
