Why do people laugh at me when I say I'm an accounting major?
Is accountant no longer a respectable /biz/ career?
i dropped out from some random economist school, after 2 years all i learned about the job was that you are supposed to click properly to book things on the PC like a monkey and calculate stuff similarly to long division that should be fucking automated in the first place. It might be quite different if you are going for some "real" useful jobs higher up though. Also when randomly googled it told me that profession is #1 in unemployed statistics for my country.

because that shit is the first thing that is going to die.
accounting isn't science ffs, it is just putting a fuckaton amount of data into a predefined spreadsheet.
it is the definition of a monkey job

You will be automated in the next 50 years.

It is a boring career. Everyone wants to get rich quick by developing an app or working for the next big startup. If you go the CPA route, you'll make good money, but it won't be exciting.

Real Accounting will stay for a long time. If you start out at the Big 4 or one of their partners its gonna be boring at the beginning but later on it will get more interesting.
Finance is the real meme degree.
