This is part of it. Since commodities are all priced in USD (because the USA is the best country) and oil is the most important commodity and we make a lot of it, our currency is strong, we have a lot of leverage to import shit at good prices.

Also, we export a lot of grain and food commodities, priced in dollars. Why Mexico and other countries with shitty currencies have food riots all the time when the dollar is strong.

There's plenty of exports actually. That's the main focus of Trump, fixing the deficit. Deficit is currently ~65 Bil/mo. That's A LOT, that's 30% of the US gvt's income, fixing it is worthwhile.

Trump will just make both deficits worst. The USD will be strong with protectionist trade policy and tax revenue will go down with his tax cuts and whatever trillion dollar infrastructure bill he wants to fund.
