forget that. If you buy a lot of stuff from Amazon get the Amazon Store Card. 5% back on Amazon purchases or 6 months 0% interest. It's like 5% discount on everything I buy.

I have my Chase Freedom card for everything else. 1% on regular purchases, 5% on rotating special categories. I heard Chase has a new card that gives 1.5% back on all purchases, I should look into that.

You can just get a US Bank Cash+ card

you get 5% cash back on amazon and any other category you want, all year round.

Get a Citi Double Cash credit card for 2% cashback everywhere else.

1% in Canada is bretty good.

The Big Five runs little schemes where you pay an annual fee - and you do do alright, when I was paying $50 per annum for a 1%/2% Scotia cashback on select categories I always got my cashback and then a little bit more.

Tangerine's card is 1% across the board, where everything is eligible (2% on some categories as well). No annual fee. Because everything's eligible, I'm already doing a lot better.


I downgraded the Scotiabank Visa to a no fee to keep the credit history. I will be dropping their Gold AmEx as well for Amazon's Visa instead.

If you're a student try a Discover IT. Nice rewards calendar/discounted gift cards, great support, and nice online UI. They're a bit stingy on the credit line increases but that may just be me. Their interest rates are better than some but not spectacular but hopefully you're paying statements off to begin with

Capital one has a 1% as you charge 1% as you pay it off card with no fee

Also discover has a free card with 5% rotating categories. Chase freedom also has 1% with 5% rotating categories and is free.
